I have maintained a website about the Border legion for over 5 years. I have a collection of articles, clipart, persomnal photographs, contributed photographs, items of interest, sound files, all included in a MS-Frontpage developed website. The site addess is http://borderlegion.topcities.com. I have had the site on four different "Free" ISPs. Unfortunately, providing free webspace isn't a big money maker, and each one has slowly passed to the way side. Who is you ISP? Topcities used to provide 150 Mb of disk space for free, but it seems that I will have to find a service and pay to have the site back on the net. Maybe I can seek contributions, or possibly web could do something jointly. I have content that I haven't had time to add to the site, and it already is about 50 Mb in size (inclusive of all the MS-Frontpage buttons and management files). Give me a shout if you have any ideas. I got your letter in the mail this week, and was hglad to see some interest in this topic. It seems to have been slow in coming though. I had even offered my contenet to tbe included in the 11th ACR museum at Ft Irwin, along with other memorbilia, maps and so forth. I couldn't get eany one interested in the past of the Regiment, they seem focused on the NTC mission now. Anyway, see you later and drop me a line of ideas. Rick Laws

I never served in the Eaglehorse squadron, but in 1979 my artillery battalion (a 175mm gun battalion in 41st FA Brigade) did some training on the M109A1's of How Battery, 2/11, at Wildflecken training area. Our battalion commander thought it would be good training for the gun crews and FDCs to work on the 155mm system, since our guns were limited to one shell, one fuze, and three charges. (It was one of the FEW good ideas he ever had!) I recall that our hosts in How battery were very gracious. It was interesting to see the projectile reach the summit of its trajectory and still be able to follow it until it disappeared behind a ridge on the descending branch -- something we never could do with the 175s! Enjoyed the site and look for more great things to come.

Hey troopers. Glynn Pope you old dawg. How are you? Still chewing Cope? Mike Simms, COL DJH Pittard is not running it yet, but working at it. After a stint at the Clinton WH, he was selected to develop doctrine for the new Striker Bdes. Last I heard, he was at Harvard on Fellowship. COL Tim Touzinski is here at Pentagon as well as MG "Skip" Sharp. I ran into SECARMY White early in his tenure. Seemed he didn't want to be bothered with the Cav thing. Too bad. I enjoyed those days. In fact I still carry 15 pounds of German bier on my waist. Take care. Allons!!

I served in Goofy Troop, 3rd Platoon Scout Squad. We had 114 A/Cavs with 20mm cannons. Before I left though we were training with Sheridian Tanks. I did basic in Ft. Ord I did AIT in Ft. Knox When I was at Ft. Dix I had orders for Vietnam with the 11ACR only to have Nixion recall them. So I was assigned to the 14th ACR until the 11th came home and on to Germany. We then became the 11th ACR. I rember places like Old Baldy and the Migian Trail were our homes away from home. I was 19 yrs. old when I got there and the youngest guy there. When I left I was 21 and the oldest in my group. Volar had started. I made Buck Sgt. in 20 months. I was proud of the job we were doing and I understood what we were doing there. Still did not like it being away from home, but it had to be done. I say hi to all that served with us and take care.

HOW Btry 1SG then the CSM of the Squadron under LTC Sturbois then LTC Clarke. Of my three assignmentS to Bad Kissingen, this was by far the best of all. It was a tough challenging assignment and a great opportunity to work with many professional troopers. EAGLEHORSE!

I have been in the military now for 16 years, and I can say that my fondest memories and best training came while assigned to the 11th ACR. If it were not my first unit I think I would not have been as successful in my career. I have yet to be in another unit where we treated our fellow soldiers as family and not just another soldier we work with. I thank the calvary for giving me an experience that I will never forget and one that I can share with my family and friends.

Hi there, brings back so many memories looking at the pictures. Met my wife in Bad Kissingen, have been married for 25 yrs. last November. Looking for my old buddy Joe Kyle. Please let me know if he ever logs onto your site. I am presently working as a DOD civilian. Could hardly recognize "Daley Barracks" when we visited last year. Still have a video tape of the original Daley Barracks.

I was the border officer in 1964 as a West Point Cadet serving as a 3rd LT. I returned 18 years to have the privilege to command the best unit in the Army! With Dave Stewart as my CSM and Gordon Sayre as my XO and Peter Kindsvater as my S3 we were off to have fun and to soldier hard and do great things! I look forward to recounting some of the yarns about those years and promise that they will be as "honest" as I can remember them.

Hi in the 70´s, I lived in Hammelburg, a small town near Bad Kissingen. There was a disco called Lions Club, the Germans called it Eisdiele ( in the 60´s it was a italian icecream bar). I knew a lot of people from the H company, because we met us every weekend in that disco. It was the only disco, where they played Rock music ( Stones, ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin etc.). It was from 74 - 76 that we had a lot of fun with our American friends. I only remember one´s name, Chuck, he came from Maine and left Germany 1976. I have visited Daley barracks several times to see my friends.

Thanks for sending this site to me via email. I have been contacted by Mark Federici and I have asked him about SGT. Mark Roper -H Co. 2/11th ACR. Roper served in this unit in Vietnam and BK. Steve Flood, the name sounds familiar......write if you like at: CEI_Industries@msn.com. I have some pictures, but I'll have to dig them out. I have some interesting border shots, as I spent a month on the border Dec76/Jan77. Also, I have a great idea for keeping the Blackhorse alive. Allons' 'Cuda PS: The salutation, which means "Let's go" is French. I am sorely disgusted with the way the French politicians are acting like they are so important in this Iraq issue. I say......LET'S GO AMERICA, LET'S GO!

Wow! A blast from the past. Ted Prescott (Der Adler), Vern Fuller (the "new" guy), Mike Simms, Rod Symons, Greg Castello -- LTs in crime. And, what can I say about Glynn Pope (Goddammit, LT -- Git over here! *spit*)? One of the best times of my life. Does anyone know where Rob Prudhomme, Dan Zajac, Ray Bednar, Tom Houston, Carlos Lobrado, or Lionel Ortiz are? Last time I talked with Lionel (in early 90's), he was in Florida working for a medical device company. (LTC) Dan Zajac was at NTC (Cobra07). Ted Prescott is in TX (I think). Ray Bednar was in Louisville, KY. There are dozens of others I'd like to catch up with. I can picture their faces, I just can't remember their names. Write me, guys.

Great site. Whoa! It was great to see some ole troopers names and photos. They brought back some hilarious memories- Mr. "Hook em' Horns" Symons - are you still igniting excess cheese charges by hand to assess your time in the sixty yard dash? G Troop reports to Opie in nothing but steel pots, LBE's, boxers, and boots - I didn't think you had the cahones - Job well done! You definitely made the experience a fun one. Retiring in 05? What is Lawrence Keely up to? Was Mike Simms that arian looking LT, who thought he had game on the gridion? Looking for Greg Yates, and Peter Williamson. Shock and awe Shock and awe.
