Communications
All of the towers and
bunkers in the barrier system were wired into a telephone system. In
many ways this was more reliable, less expensive and more secure than FM
radio.

Along the control road, at
periodic intervals were telephone jack points through which a patrol could
establish contact. The Border Troops carried a special phone on
their belt for this purpose.
